How To Get Your Texas Loan Officer's License

You cannot offer mortgages and receive commission from Property Crossing until you become a licensed Loan Officer.

It is an extremely easy process to obtain your license from the state. All of the details can be found at the Texas Savings And Loan Department website. We have summarized the process below:

  1. TAKE THE FOLLOWING COURSE: Texas 15-Hr Internet Multi-Media Course $99:
  2. TAKE LICENSING EXAM: See this link for testing information.  for test information. You can register on-line and view the handbook.  You can also check test locations and times.  The test costs $42.00.
  3. GET FINGERPRINTED:  The testing center might be able to take your fingerprints for you.  Otherwise, get a fingerprint card from the state and check with your local police to find out  the days and times they do fingerprints.
  4. FILL OUT THIS LOAN OFFICER APPLICATION:  The loan officer application fee is $214.00.  After filling out the applicable portions of the application, please mail to 15219 Thatcher, Austin,  TX 78717 for our signature.  Please include the $214 check payable to Texas Savings and Loan Department. Property Crossing will mail in the application to the state.

You do not have to take the course listed above, but the one you decide to take has to approved by the state. There are many providers throughout the state that offer classes. You can even find correspondence classes where you do it all from home. The typical class (non-correspondence) is 2 full days and costs anywhere from $100 up.

Here is a link to some brochures from course providers that we found.

Here are some links to sites of providers that we have used in the past. You do not have to use these. They are just here for your convenience.
